Creation of Eve

Femininity: Between Love and Lust

“The Biblical perspective details Eve as the first of her kind and the mother of humanity, originally created as the equal counterpart to Adam. Eve is depicted as having first eaten the forbidden fruit before giving it to Adam, leading to the fall of man.

Medusa is a figure from Greek mythology who is often portrayed as the monstrous gorgon who turned men to stone with a single glance. However, like Eve, Medusa's story began with innocence and became a tragedy when lust entered the picture in the form of Poseidon. As a result of his actions, Medusa was punished with snakes for hair and a stare that would turn men to stone.

Prior to eating the fruit, Eve had no knowledge of good and evil. In a similar manner, Medusa was seen as beautiful in her purity prior to the violation of her innocence. The stories of Medusa and Eve represent themes of innocence, temptation, and betrayal, ultimately leading to their respective downfalls.

The Creation of Eve explores the feminine archetype as a loving and nurturing figure. Love cannot blossom without trust, and this concept explores the way love seeks to thrive when enduring lust, betrayal, and pain.” –i’con
